My Latest Passion
A year ago I could not have imagined that my interest in photography would actually become a serious part of my life. I have to take at least one photograph every other day, if not daily, and I am in love with my flickr account where I share all the snapshots I’m happy with.
If you asked me what I loved doing in my spare time, the word photography would have to come up without fail. I take my camera with me everywhere I go, even to friends’ houses where I hope I can catch a lovely flower, an insect or even an interesting object.
Macro is so far my favourite way to capture things. Taking a close-up photo with my special Macro lens which enables me to magnify my object is my pride and joy, my highlight of the day. Sometimes we cannot see things with our naked eye, but after a shot I’ll be shocked at how delicate an insect looks, how amazing the details are on a flower, things I don’t notice because of my limitations as a human never go unnoticed with my camera.
And it’s amazing to be out in the open, breathing in the fresh air (if any fresh-cut grass is around that would be even more better), walking around with my camera in my hand and just inspecting my surroundings in a way that I would never usually do because I don’t normally have the chance with the hectic lifestyle we all live in.
But that half an hour or hour of roaming around and giving nature a second look really opens up my heart to God’s creation. It fills my lungs with a satisfying breath of air and it fills my mind with wonders of the creation.
I feel very humbled when I am looking around, taking shots with my camera. That I have been given this unique opportunity to witness what God has given us. That with my lens, I can go even further and delve into the unknown. That I can make people look at photos of things they wouldn’t normally have noticed or even cared much about.
It gives me a sense of pleasure, knowing that I am a part of something big here. Not only am I roaming around to different places, taking pictures of different things, but I’m sharing it with people with similar interests, people who actually like what they see and let me know.
The experience of photography is precious to me, from when I pick up my camera from its resting place, to walking around viewing my subjects, to finally uploading it on the Internet and sharing it with the world.
I’m just one thankful, lucky lady.
