Unique. Because No One Can Be Me But Myself.

Ten Things I Want to Change

with 24 comments

1. My weight. I need to have a bit of will power to lose some. It’s easier said than done though. Especially when you’re face to face with a tempting forbidden meal. Where’s the will power girly?!

2. My skin. I need to look after it more. Why is it when winter comes in I just don’t care? Well I have to!

3. My hair. Just because I wear hijab doesn’t mean I’m bald! Even I need to remember that sometimes.

4. My attitude. When winter crawls in, I am stuffing myself with delicious foods, not taking my herbal supplements, and not really looking after myself. This needs to change. I need to look after me!

5. I want to go back to school. Taking further qualifications will improve my career.

6. I want to call my friends more often. Good friendship is one of the best medicines in life.

7. I want to increase my spirituality. Where did the old Unique go?

8. I want to look after myself. It doesn’t come as automatic as you’d think.

9. I’d like to wear the feminine clothes I used to wear before. I’d like to make an effort.

10. I want to love me. In a non-selfish way. In the automatic, day-today sense. Loving yourself enough to make your life work. I don’t want to be stuck in a rut.

  7. good. I started to eat healthy since 2 years ago. I eat more vegatable meals, fruits and less junk foods. (maybe one in 2 months)
At first it seems difficult. But you have to try. I heard egyptian genes makes one fat..

And eat as much as you be almost filled. And concentrate on what you eat, and for example dont think about another issue while eating. Bcs it makes you forget time and eat more..

For the rest, skin, hair etc, you need to visit a doctor for help..

And, i love you.. Take care.. :)

  14. lol Jaffer, love the list! Okay, so life isn’t perfect and we all need changing/improving on our lives. That detail I completely forgot as I wrote this post. I wrote this post thinking I was alone in this. But what I love about this blog is that people always prove to me that I’m never alone. Alhamdulilah.

Jannah, good luck on your ‘diet’. I HATE THAT WORD. lol. Make duaa for me.

  17. I hate that “d” word, too! I never say it, and never do it.

You have a lot of courage to admit some of these issues. You’ll need even more courage to work that list. Yes, I said courage, because change needs courage. We are accustomed to our rut for a reason; it gives us an excuse to fail.

As for genes, LOL! It’s Egyptian FOOD that makes one fat! Nothing is more delicious, and more loaded with fat, sugar and calories, except maybe Italian food. I love them both, and yes, I am fat.

(I was thin once. I remember the day well…It was August 8, 1978.)

  22. As-Salaamu-Alaikum Unique,
I wish I had found your blog earlier. You are a fabulous writer, mash’Allah.
I just started my own blog three days ago. But, my dear, I have been wanting to write about finding the cure to the winter blues. What do people eat, drink, think, pray for to feel psyched to jump up early out of bed and into the cold morning? Because I want that diet, that prayer, that mind-set. I am feeling the winter, the cold, the best that I can feel. AND, like you, I AM WANTING TO CHANGE! Quick, fast and in a hurry. So, what’s the cure? I feel a little better knowing that we’re in the same boat. I hope you do too.
