The Bond
As I sit here, typing to you, I have a range of mixed feelings. Happiness and sadness exist as one in my heart and soul. An elevated buzz feeling, the one you usually get after drinking coffee exists alongside a heart-falling-to-the-ground-with-a-thump-feeling. My heart is light and heavy at the same time. My eyes wish to cry tears of sadness and tears of genuine appreciation for being blessed. How Far Do We Go?
Picture this scene. Two friends are chatting together. They start joking with one another and resume when a few other friends come along to join them. Sanaa jokes that her friend Laila is crazy and needs to see a therapist. The others laugh, believing this is innocent humour. Laila sits quietly, smiling politely, her heart plunges, but she cannot say anything. How could she?
